Local High Adventure Opportunities
What do you think about when you hear the phrase “High Adventure”? In the context of Scouting, most people think of the four national high adventure bases – Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico; Northern Tier High Adventure Bases in Minnesota, Ontario & Manitoba; Florida Sea Base in the Florida Keys; and Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia. In addition to providing an unforgettable adventure, these experiences provide our youth opportunities to develop in character and leadership by challenge them in ways that you simply cannot duplicate on a weekend campout. While these four locations are incredible, distance and resources can sometimes be a hurdle that scouts and units may find difficult to overcome. Fortunately, there are many opportunities within about a 4 hour drive from our district where we can provide similar experiences and development opportunities for our youth. The map below highlights a few of those opportunities!. Take a look and let us know what you think.
