  • What is a School Sign Up Night?
    • A hour long sign up held at your Pack’s assigned school to inform parents and get boys signed up for Cub Scouts.

  • Why is it important to have the first sign up night at the school?
    • Parents are used to going to the school.
 
  • Marketing Materials and Resources
    • Fliers, tri-fold brochures, yard signs, posters, peer-to-peer cards
    • Provided free of charge by the Atlanta Area Council (order through your District Executive)
    • Station-to-Station Approach for SignUp Nights
 
  • Open Houses
    • Great to promote the sign up night and provide pack information
  • Buzz Ups
    • Promotion at the school for the boys done a day or two before the sign up night.
  • School Sign Up Night Tips
    • Make sure it does not last more than a hour
    • Have a registration table that serves as a resource for the night including sign-in sheet
    • Get parents filling out applications as soon as they arrive
    • Provide Pack info sheet and pack registration form
    • Have a membership chair review applications before the night is over
    • Collect applications along with the payment and turn in that night to Scouting or District person
  • Program
    • Cubmaster welcomes and explains pack meeting times, location and size
    • Have an activity or game for the boys (i.e. making paper rockets with older Boy Scouts.)
    • Scouting or District person explains what Scouting is
    • Cubmaster reviews activities and the calendar for the pack
  • Creating  Lion and Tiger Dens
    • Bring Lion/Tiger parents together to recruit a leader and co-leader
    • Have a Lion/Tiger Den Mentors to be there and help new den
  • Incentives
    • Every new Cub Scout receives a free "Build-Your-Adventure" building block kit.
    • Free Bobcat badge for Scouts who achieve rank
    • All Cub Scouts are invited to the Appalachian Trail Adventure Quest on August 25th
  • Second Chances
    • After the school sign-up night, a second chance is a time for boys to have a change to join.  This is perfect for parties, rain gutter regattas, Pack meetings, etc…
